Naturopathic visits (including acupuncture) are covered by most workplace and private insurances. Please check-in with your insurance provider how much they cover. Please note that lab testing and supplements are not covered since they are out-of-office services.

Naturopathy is a broad-based approach to wellness that focuses on using natural remedies to support the body's natural healing abilities. It emphasizes the importance of a healthy diet, exercise, and lifestyle changes, as well as herbal remedies, acupuncture, and other natural therapies. Homeopathy, on the other hand, is a specific system of medicine that is based on the principle of "like cures like." It uses highly diluted substances that are believed to stimulate the body's natural healing processes.

Although some naturopaths use homeopathy in their treatments, the focus of my practice is on other treatments such as health education (stress, sleep, diet & lifestyle, exercise, and mental health), comprehensive lab work, and evidence-based natural treatments.

In Ontario, Canada, the regulation of naturopathic medicine falls under the jurisdiction of the College of Naturopaths of Ontario (CONO). To become a licensed naturopathic doctor (ND) in Ontario, individuals must complete the following steps:

  1. Obtain a bachelor's degree or equivalent from a recognized institution.
  2. Complete a four-year program at an accredited naturopathic college. In Ontario, there is only one accredited program, the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM), located in Toronto. This program includes clinical rotations where students treat patients at the Robert Schaad Naturopathic Clinic, under the supervision of licensed Naturopathic Doctors.
  3. Pass the Naturopathic Physicians Licensing Examinations (NPLEX) or CONO regulatory exams, which includes both written and clinical exams.
  4. Apply for licensure from the College of Naturopaths of Ontario.

In addition, licensed naturopaths in Ontario are required to complete continuing education courses to maintain their license and must adhere to the standards and code of ethics set by the College of Naturopaths of Ontario.

I finished my undergrad. in 2016 obtaining an Honors Bachelor's of Science degree in Biochemistry from York University, with a thesis in Zebrafish gene editing. This was followed by pursuing Naturopathic Medicine at CCNM, graduating in 2021, and completing the CONO licensing exams in 2022. In total, I have accumulated over 9 years of science and medical knowledge, which I continuously strive to improve upon.
